Change Log

2.0 (Released: May 22, 2026)

  • Bug Fixed: Post search in the slider editor was not working after the previous security update — the search now correctly passes its security token and receives results
  • Bug Fixed: Slider button links, targets, and button text were output without escaping — fixed across all four slider types (Cycle 2, Flex, Nivo, Responsive)
  • Bug Fixed: Thumbnail images in the image pager and custom navigation arrows were output without proper URL escaping
  • Bug Fixed: Slide title and content in Nivo and Responsive slider types were output without sanitization
  • Bug Fixed: Block editor script was cached by the browser after updates — now uses file modification time as the version so the browser always loads the latest code
  • Improved: Block editor scripts now load in the page footer for better performance
  • Improved: Code cleaned up to meet the latest WordPress coding standards and pass the official Plugin Check tool
  • Bug Fixed: Post search in the slider editor was not secured — it now properly checks user permissions before returning results
  • Bug Fixed: Slider color settings (title, content, button, navigation colors) were not sanitized before being applied — fixed to prevent invalid values from reaching the page
  • Bug Fixed: Navigation arrow image URLs were output without escaping — fixed to prevent unexpected characters
  • Bug Fixed: The "Catch Themes & Catch Plugins Tabs" toggle on the settings page was not fully secured — nonce and permission checks have been added
  • Bug Fixed: Version number shown in the plugin header did not match the internal version constant — now consistent
  • Bug Fixed: Several security improvements — all form inputs are now properly validated and sanitized before saving
  • Improved: Admin and frontend scripts now load in the page footer for better performance
  • Improved: Code cleaned up to meet the latest WordPress coding standards and pass the official Plugin Check tool
  • Bug Fixed: Replaced deprecated 'wp-editor' script dependency with 'wp-block-editor' in block registration
  • Bug Fixed: Adding the Catch Slider block in the post editor showed "Error loading block: Invalid parameter(s): attributes" — the editor preview now uses a static placeholder instead of a server-side render call, which eliminates the REST API validation failure entirely and is the correct approach for a slider block (sliders require CSS and JavaScript that cannot run inside the editor canvas)
  • Bug Fixed: The Catch Slider block was not loading its preview in the editor on WordPress 6.3 and newer — resolved as part of the switch to a static placeholder which no longer depends on any server-side rendering API
  • Bug Fixed: Block registration was happening too early during plugin load — moved to the correct stage so WordPress can properly validate and serve it
  • Bug Fixed: Slider styles and scripts were loading during the wrong stage of the page load — moved to the correct point so they only load on the front end when needed
  • Bug Fixed: Several translation strings were using the wrong language identifier — they will now load correctly with the plugin's own translations
  • Bug Fixed: A number of translation strings were missing their language identifier entirely — they were not available for translation at all
  • Bug Fixed: Some settings fields were putting dynamic values (like numbers) through the translation system when they shouldn't be — fixed to output the values directly
  • Bug Fixed: Two translated strings containing links were missing context notes for translators, making it unclear what the link placeholder represented
  • Bug Fixed: The slide number label in the slider editor (e.g. "Slider #1") was built using string joining, which breaks translation — now uses a proper placeholder so translators can reorder it
  • Bug Fixed: Several translation strings across the plugin settings, updater, and block files were using an incorrect language identifier — they will now load the plugin's own translations correctly
  • Bug Fixed: Translation strings in the license updater area were missing their language identifier entirely — they were not available for translation
  • Bug Fixed: Two translated strings containing a link placeholder were missing a note for translators explaining what the placeholder represents — added across the settings, admin display, and updater files
  • Bug Fixed: A translated string in the update notification contained a mixed placeholder format — one placeholder was written incorrectly and has been standardised
  • Bug Fixed: A script in the themes browser section was loading in the page header instead of the footer — moved for better page performance
